Eye Lift (Blephorplasty)
I'd like to have an eye lift, and I'd like to go to a specialist, someone noted and highly respected for their eye jobs. Too many women (and men) end up with hollow looking sockets and too much fat removed. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good surgeon? How does one find an expert in eyes? Also, I've heard of people traveling to Costa Rica and Russia to save money. Has anyone had experience traveling outside the US for surgery?

Marilyn, I do not know where you life (West Va?) But I would search for the best doc in your area and ask to see pics. I would NOT go to Costa Rica or abroad because if anything goes wrong you are screwed. Also with the language barrier - unless you speak fluent spanish - that could cause a whole set of new problems. There are many great surgeons and if you are outside of NYC you can get a decent price. Esp nowadays. 2500-4000 for a decent lift.

Marilyn, I'm with Dorothy. I have a friend who went to Costa Rica for some work on her lips, and they turned out a mess. She had no recourse. So she ended up spending a ton more money in the US to get it corrected, but her lips never looked the same. Dorothy, what do you know about Western Europe? Aren't there some good surgeons there who charge a LOT less than in the US?

Hmmmmm I have heard this - esp about Germany. Right now the Euro is low so I guess you could get a deal but its not like South America/Costa Rica prices. Of course as you said, leaving the USA has its risks. I say spend as much as you can afford for a good doctor whose work you have SEEN both in person (ie a patient) and photos. Seems in this economy, elective surgery is going to be cheaper - you should be able to find a deal AND a great surgeon.
Dr. Sam Rizsk is one of the best eye lift docs in NYC. He is about 8 grand. -
