Here Women Talk

Any new creative intentions, projects or dreams? This is a good place to share all things creative! It's been awhile since I posted, partly due to travel, but also in the hopes that in the mean time any one of us might start a discussion or share a project, photo or poem.... Hasn't happened yet, but I have faith!

I am about halfway through making a lap quilt for my youngest niece, and while the sewing machine is out I've dreamed up a few other projects. I will post a photo of the quilt when it is done..... And I continue making collages when I have time. I was proud to see two of my labyrinth-related collages sell for top dollar in an online auction event for Veriditas, an all-things labyrinth advocacy group.

We had some rain in Houston today, much to everyone's happiness since we there has been such a drought. Synchronistically, during the rain, while standing in line at the post office this AM, I read this short poem by a friend named Don Wentworth, editor of Lilliput Review (a good place to send short poems if you write them).

     The many notes

     of the falling rain,

     all in tune.

Hi Keddy! So great to see you here. And CONGRATULATIONS on selling your labyrinth-related collages for top dollar. That thrills me! :)

You're the inspiration, Keddy, who keeps us inspired about trying new techniques. Nobody else does it like you! I can't wait to see your lap quilt, and I know what you mean about the sewing machine. What a fantastic invention. It's amazing what you can make, even for non-sewers like me. I've made bedspreads, table cloths, table skirts. I even made a mainsail cover for our sailboat with my sewing machine.  I looked at the older cover and figured out how to make a new one. It turned out great.

Glad to hear you've had some rain. I saw a news show about a lake somewhere in Texas where the lake bed is now dry and old grave stones are exposed. Very strange.

Happy to see your post!

xoxo

Thanx, Kay,

The collages were a donation to Veriditas. This proves I CAN give my art away! Well, at least it is a tax deduction. The quilt will be Christmas gift. I'm making it up as I go along, but with a very simple design involving squares. You sound like you really know your way around a sweing machine. I still need to learn how to do zippers...... Velcro was a great invention as far as making pillow covers goes. Nice to see you here again, too!
