Here Women Talk

About HWT - Meet our Founding Members

WELCOME to Here WomenTalk, a place for women to talk, connect and belong.

Here Women Talk, launched June 2010, is the brainchild of Kay Van Hoesen. Single most of her adult life, Kay says it's always been her girlfriends who have kept her grounded when her marriages failed or her relationships went south, who supported her in her darkest hours, and who provided a sense of belonging when no family was nearby.

Knowing the importance of girlfriends, Kay wanted to find a way to help other women connect, make friends, get support, learn, and have fun without the mandatory meetings, dues, and fundraisers of most organizations.

Here Women Talk has evolved into a unique mix of social internet radio and wise, talented people--a global community that changes lives.  Yes, we have fun with art and food and humor, but we also take on the bad guys with take-no-prisoner radio hosts who combat human trafficking, criminal domestic violence, and addiction.

Here Women Talk is also caring, compassionate and ready to enrich all areas of your life.  Yogis, life coaches, artists, authors, crafters, chefs, teachers, empowerment speakers, beauty experts, professional storytellers, ministers, hospice volunteers, caregivers, moms, private investigators, law enforcement, executives, humorists, lawyers, psychics, healers, physicians, psychotherapists, playwrights, musicians, and many more … we're all here, and it’s our diversity that makes us strong.

You will see what we are talking about when you listen to our weekday interactive talk shows, call-in or chat-in, join or start a group, write a blog, participate in a forum, upload photos, videos, or art , or, in other words, start belonging!

But who are the other founding members … Cora, Babs and Emi?

Meet Babs

Nobody will ever know Babs' real age. Though a grandmother with a bundle of grandkids, she'll never admit to anything older than 29 which helps to win the attention of younger men. Babs comes from tough English stock, and rarely has anyone seen her cry, though she has been the support of many a broken-hearted friend and her own heart has been broken more times than she cares to acknowledge.

Meet Cora

Cora has succeeded where most have failed. As an African-American female gynecologist living in the South and a single parent, she knows the meaning of struggle. In her practice, she is jovial, kind and caring, greeting all her patients with a huge smile and easy laughter. In Cora, you'll always find a warm and caring friend and an example that encourages you to never give up.

Meet Emi

Emi (short for Akemi), a talented 30-something artist, scrapes by, one painting at a time, enjoying life's every moment.  Born in Japan but raised in America, she has abandoned most of her parents' traditional teachings in favor of a bohemian lifestyle. The one thing she can't quite shake, and is not sure she really wants to, is the quiet, polite way of the Japanese culture.

Are they real people?  Not quite.  They each represent a real person in Kay's life, they embody the diversity of Here Women Talk, and their identities have been altered slightly to protect their anonymity.
